Rocket League overlay for TikTok LIVE (9:16)

Updated 31 October 2026 · TikTok LIVE Studio · OBS
Short answer: copy the TIKTOK / PHONE link from your control panel and add it as a 9:16 source (Link source in TikTok LIVE Studio, Browser source in OBS) on top of your game capture. Two layouts: a room around a framed game window (scoreboard, LED marquee, light strips), or full screen with the game filling the phone and everything floating on it. Goal stingers and the VS intro play in portrait in both.

Before you start

Set it up in 5 steps

  1. Make a portrait scene

In OBS, open Settings › Video and set the canvas to 1080 × 1920 (or add a second canvas with a plugin such as Aitum Vertical). In TikTok LIVE Studio, pick the portrait layout.

  2. Copy your vertical link

In your control panel, open Setup & help and copy the TIKTOK / PHONE link. It looks like this:

    https://overlay.rocketleagueapi.com/vertical.html?live=1&ch=…&key=…

It has your key in it, so it can read the game by itself, even with OBS closed. Keep it private. Without live=1 it shows a demo match, which is handy for lining things up.

  3. Add it on top of your game

TikTok LIVE Studio: add a Link source, paste the link and pick a custom 9:16 size such as 720 × 1280. Studio won't make a source taller than your screen, and the overlay scales itself to any 9:16 size, so 1080 × 1920 isn't needed. OBS: add a Browser source of 1080 × 1920 and tick Control audio via OBS if you want the goal sounds. Either way, put it above your game capture.

  4. Place your game

Room layout (default): scale your Rocket League capture into the transparent game window, 1000 × 563 at x 40, y 520 on a 1080 × 1920 canvas (same proportions on a smaller one). Full-screen layout: add &layout=full to the end of the link, then scale the game capture a bit taller than the canvas (about 2160 high on 1080 × 1920, the sides get cut off), centre it and move it up about 230 px, until the game's own score is above the edge. Leave the bottom third free: that's where TikTok puts comments and gifts.

  5. Go live and play

Start a match. The scoreboard follows the score, the lights flash in the scoring team's colour on goals (pink for a BANGER!, gold for a HAT TRICK) and the VS intro plays at kickoff.

Tip: TikTok covers the top part of the screen (your profile and viewers) and the lower left (comments). The scoreboard starts below the top bar, and nothing important sits in the comment area.

Options for the link

Add to linkWhat it does
&layout=fullThe game fills the phone. Scoreboard under TikTok's top bar, tonight's wins – losses on the left, a quick pop when you beat tonight's fastest goal, bottom left free for comments.
&score.style=retroForce a scoreboard style: classic, epic, clean or retro. Default: your choice in the control panel under Look.
&bg=0No room background, only the parts (scoreboard, marquee, lights). Use it if you build the frame yourself.
&notch=0No notch over the game's own scoreboard.
&me=YourNameYour in-game name, so your team shows on the left. Usually not needed: set it once in the control panel (Overview).

Troubleshooting

The scoreboard says BLUE and ORANGE and doesn't move

The game isn't sending data. Check that the link has live=1 and your key (copy it again from the control panel), that the Stats API is on, and that you restarted Rocket League after changing it. The Overview tab in the control panel shows whether the game is connected.

It looks small or squashed in TikTok LIVE Studio

Use a custom size with 9:16 proportions (720 × 1280, for example) instead of dragging the edges. The overlay fits itself to the source without stretching.

The page is blank

Make sure the link starts with https://overlay.rocketleagueapi.com/vertical.html and the source is 9:16.

FAQ

Do I need a second copy of Rocket League or a second PC?

No. The vertical overlay reads the same match data as your normal overlay. You keep one game capture and add one more source.

Which link do I use?

Copy it from your control panel: Setup & help, the TIKTOK / PHONE row. It has your key in it, so it can read the game on its own. Keep it private like your normal link.

Can I stream to Twitch and TikTok LIVE at the same time?

Yes, with two scenes or two OBS canvases: the normal 16:9 scene with the normal overlay, and a 9:16 scene with the vertical overlay. Both can run together because they use the same match data.

Does it show Twitch alerts or predictions?

No. The vertical overlay only shows the moments TikTok viewers care about: the scoreboard, goals, the VS intro and the LED marquee. Twitch alerts and predictions stay on the normal overlay.

Can I change the scoreboard style?

Yes. It follows the style you pick in the control panel under Look, Scoreboard style (Classic, Epic, Clean or Retro). To force one, add &score.style=retro to the link.
